INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I offer individual sessions both virtually and in person at my office in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Therapy has the potential to be deeply transformative when we are open and engaged in the process. My aim is to do more than get to know your history and goals, but to bring you towards clarity and healing.

Three words that describe the therapy I provide is warm, respectful and informed. I know firsthand that this can be a vulnerable time and I handle this with great care and full attention. I ask a lot of questions and offer clinical insight.

I pull from my experience and clinical trainings in many different theories: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic theory, Jungian work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Polyvagal Theory and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which is widely known as Tapping. I feel this provides a foundation of depth and tangible takeaways. Pieces of my training help us to explore in depth questions like, “How did we get here?” While ACT is more focused on the present moment and gives insight into how to address these issues now. I am interested in the full (and beautifully messy) human picture.

SPECIAL FOCUS AREAS

  • Anxiety: While we all know what this is, we don’t always realize the hold it can have on us. Anxiety can deeply impact our self-esteem, ability to be present and our sense of joy. I will help you identify and create distance from these pervasive symptoms.

  • ADHD: I am an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (CCSP), which means I have spent a lot of time and training to get to know more about this specific diagnosis. I also live in a neurodiverse family where ADHD and Learning Disabilities (LD) are a part of my day-to-day life. I have come to understand that ADHD is a deeply misunderstood and complex diagnosis that brings with it certain and specific challenges. It is hard to see it clearly when you are steeped in and living it. I like to provide clients with some guidance in navigating this unique experience.

  • Depression: When we are in a depressive state, we can’t trust our lens. We see things in a skewed way. This lens clouds how we see our relationships, opportunities, capabilities and most importantly ourselves. Similar to anxiety, we start by separating and distancing ourselves from the symptoms. Once this is approached, we can start to re-familiarize ourselves with the version of us that was there before the depression presented.

  • Eating Disorders: I spent several years working in a treatment center for adults and adolescents with eating disorders. Our culture is drenched in messages that emphasize the aesthetic of our bodies as opposed to the wisdom within them. I want to help you sift through cultural messages and find a place of greater freedom with food and body. While this recovery often happens in “baby steps,” it is very possible and freeing on the other side.

  • Relational Issues: Most of us don’t know how to navigate conflict in a healthy way. Due to this, we either avoid issues or subconsciously seek them. We can find a different way. I often help people navigate “difficult” people in their lives. This involves partners and parents. A loved one with a personality disorder takes an emotional toll and we can learn to unravel some of these dynamics.

  • Substance Use Disorders: Do you use alcohol or cannabis to self-soothe after a tough day? You are not alone. This is often what was modeled to us to help manage our emotions. We were taught these messages through family, culture and media. I want to help you explore what is serving you vs draining you.

  • Whole System Healing: For change to be integrated, it needs to be embodied. How many times have you felt “Ugh, I know better, why do I keep doing this?” My aim is to get beneath the knowing into the feeling where the change can be felt. We will learn how to identify different nervous system states and ways to support ourselves in each state. We will learn how to be with painful emotions and experiences and bring healing to our system. I use IFS, Polyvagal theory and EFT/Tapping to support these efforts.

Good Faith Estimate

*You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
